Our 16.00 karat Pale Gold and 16kt Pale Patent Gold (Transfer Leaf) contain 65% pure Gold and 35% pure Silver, offering a soft, classic pale-gold tone that bridges traditional warmth with a lighter, refined finish—paired with the reliable handling performance you expect from professional leaf.
We offer a selection of gram weights to match different project demands and gilding styles. Gram weight is defined as the weight of 1,000 standard 3 3/8" square leaves and is best understood as a measure of leaf density rather than thickness. Each leaf is beaten to an ultra-thin standard of approximately 0.5 microns.
Loose Gold — Loose 16kt Pale Gold leaf is interleaved between sheets of thin, lightly rouged paper, allowing you to lift one leaf at a time without disturbing the rest of the book. Loose leaf is traditionally handled with a gilder’s tip (a flat natural-hair brush) for precise placement, clean overlap control, and minimal waste—especially on carved detail, contours, and restoration work.
Patent Gold (Transfer Leaf) — 16kt Pale Patent Gold leaf, also called transfer leaf, is mounted to a special tissue paper using a pressure process. Each leaf-and-tissue unit is interleaved with thin rouged paper, so you can remove single sheets cleanly and consistently. Transfer leaf provides added control, making it ideal for larger areas, straight runs, smooth substrates, and workflows where easier handling and predictable placement are preferred.
