Our Burnish / Sealer Primer is a versatile, high-performance undercoat designed for both interior and exterior gilding applications.

This solvent-based primer creates a dense, smooth, and durable surface that enhances adhesion and promotes clean, consistent leaf application. Formulated specifically for gilding, it helps level minor surface imperfections while providing a stable foundation that supports burnishing and long-term durability.

Available pre-tinted in Yellow Ochre, Red, and Grey, each color serves a specific purpose—either masking surface flaws or enriching the final appearance of the metal leaf. Warm tones enhance the depth and brilliance of gold leaf, while neutral grey provides a balanced base for silver-toned and specialty metal leaves.

Suitable for a wide range of substrates, including stone, concrete, brick, marble, wood, plastic, resin, and composite materials, this primer is trusted by professional gilders, sign painters, conservators, and decorative artists for demanding projects where performance and finish quality matter. For stainless steel surfaces an 'etching primer' is required before application of the Burnish/Sealer.

Burnish Sealer Priming Undercoat - ideal for Gold and imitation gold. A solvent based (oil based) primer-sealer for use with LeFranc and Dux gilder's sizing, as well as all water-based sizing.
