Agate and Hematite burnishers are the ideal tool to create the mirror shine finish in the Traditional Water Gilding method.
Aggressively rubbing over the gold leaf (burnishing) causes the clay bole substrate to compress, creating a mirror shine to yur leafed surface.

Used by guilder’s the world over, agate is a smooth hard stone and the perfect material for burnishing gold and Silver leaf. When handled with care, an agate burnisher will last a lifetime.
